GOOD TIDINGS OF GREAT JOY

THE INVOLVEMENT OF ANGELS 

The Advent of the Lord Jesus was so significant that angels were directly involved! 

  1. The Angel Gabriel was sent to:

a) Zacharias

b) Mary     Luke 1

  1. An angel announced the birth of the Lord Jesus to shepherds     Luke 2:9-12
  1. A choir of angels sang     Luke 2:13-14
  1. An angel spoke to Joseph in a dream     Matthew 1:20; 2:13

THE BIRTH OF THE LORD JESUS

An angel of the LORD announced the birth of the Baby Lord Jesus in Bethlehem. He was accompanied by a heavenly chorus of angels singing with great joy to the shepherds!

8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 

9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 

10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 

11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 

12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

14 “Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”     Luke 2:8-14

OUR CHALLENGE THIS CHRISTMAS

Let us appreciate afresh the significance of the birth of our Saviour! If the angels of God are wonderfully involved, how much more should we offer praise to God that the Lord Jesus came to bring salvation to the world!
