INTRODUCTION

i) To establish who He is
ii) That He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
c) The name LORD would be the name He would reveal to the children of Israel

3. Key text concerning the name LORD

2 And God spoke to Moses and said to him: “I am the LORD.

3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by My name LORD I was not known to them.

4 I have also established My covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, in which they were strangers.

5 And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel whom the Egyptians keep in bondage, and I have remembered My covenant.

6 Therefore say to the children of Israel: ‘I am the LORD; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments.

7 I will take you as My people, and I will be your God. Then you shall know that I am the LORD your God who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.

8 And I will bring you into the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and I will give it to you as a heritage: I am the LORD.’”

THE FILLING OF THE SPIRIT

1 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying:

2 “See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah.

3 And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,

4 to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze,

5 in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship.

Exodus 31:1-5

GIFTED ARTISANS

6 “And I, indeed I, have appointed with him Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and I have put wisdom in the hearts of all the gifted artisans, that they may make all that I have commanded you:

7 the tabernacle of meeting, the ark of the Testimony and the mercy seat that is on it, and all the furniture of the tabernacle—

8 the table and its utensils, the pure gold lampstand with all its utensils, the altar of incense,

9 the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the laver and its base—

10 the garments of ministry, the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, to minister as priests,

11 and the anointing oil and sweet incense for the holy place. According to all that I have commanded you they shall do.”

Exodus 31:6-11

1. Others who were called to help erect the Tabernacle Exodus 31:6

2. One quality was highlighted
“Wisdom” Exodus 31:6

3. They will be able to assist

a) Bezalel
b) Aholiab

4. But only Bezalel was given the filling of the Spirit of God

SPIRITUAL LESSONS FOR US

1. Not to grieve if we are not greatly filled with the Holy Spirit

2. We can be grateful:

a) Even if we have just one gift
b) We can still serve meaningfully
3. Giving of spiritual gifts
It is up to the LORD to give as He wills it
