Discovering The Wisdom Of God

Finding true wisdom in God

There are different kinds of wisdom in the world. There is human wisdom that is secular, worldly and sinful. This is not the kind that we want to have. As we embark on the quest to sincerely and diligently search for wisdom, our desire and hope must be that we would be able to discover true wisdom from God.

God as the Source of true wisdom

1. He is the Giver of true wisdom

“For the Lord gives wisdom;” (Proverbs 2:6)

1. The Lord is the only Source of true wisdom.
2. He desires to give His wisdom graciously to us.
3. His wisdom is above all other kinds of wisdom as it is divine, heavenly and godly.

2. He reveals His wisdom through His Word

“From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;” (Proverbs 2:6)

1. God speaks words of wisdom for us to listen.
2. There would come knowledge for us to discover and insights for us to understand.

3. He has a great treasury of wisdom to give

“He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;” (Proverbs 2:7)

1. God’s wisdom is specially stored in His great treasury.
2. His wisdom is good and sound; there is nothing erroneous about it.
3. He would draw from His treasury and give His wisdom to those who walk uprightly.

The blessings of God

As much as the Lord seeks to give His wisdom, He also desires to extend His other blessings.

1. He is a shield…“He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;” (Proverbs 2:7)

1. The Lord gives His protection as a shield.
2. He specially keeps those who walk uprightly.

2. He guards…“He guards the paths of justice,” (Proverbs 2:8)

1. The Lord watches over those who are on the paths of justice.
2. He safeguards those who have chosen the way that is lawful and just.

3. He preserves…“And preserves the way of His saints.” (Proverbs 2:8)

1. The Lord is also the Preserver of those who follow His ways.
2. He oversees and upholds the lives of His saints.

Wisdom gained from God

“Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path.” (Proverbs 2:9)

God reveals who He is and His wisdom to those who are His saints…who walk uprightly. By knowing the Lord and His blessings in our lives, we would discover and understand His kind of righteousness, justice, equity and every good path. Let us be challenged to continue to search and find the wisdom of God that we may grow deeper in knowledge and in relating with Him.
