TRIBULATIONS WHICH YOU ENDURE

Text: 2 Thessalonians 1
13 October 2024

A CALL TO ENDURE

It was the Lord Jesus Himself who challenged His disciples to endure even if there are persecutions and tribulation (Matthew 24:13). The Thessalonian church proved that it was possible to endure tribulation!

We are bound to thank God always for you brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other,

so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure,

which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer     2 Thessalonians 1:3-5

  1. The Testimony of the Thessalonian Church

  1. Suffering for the sake of the Lord Jesus Christ

a) The Thessalonians endured much suffering

b) But their faith in the Lord did not falter nor fail

c) They were rightly counted worthy of the kingdom of God

OUR CHALLENGE

Let us be inspired by the example of the Thessalonian Church. Though they did not have the continuing presence of the Apostle Paul to guide them, their faith was genuine and that helped them to keep growing well.

  1. Let us grow our faith meaningfully
  1. Let us cultivate the spirit of endurance and perseverance
  1. Let us be counted worthy of belonging to the kingdom of God
