The joy of finding wisdom

Wisdom is not easily found. But when we find wisdom, there will come happiness. The author of Proverbs wrote, “Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding;” (Proverbs 3:13) This happiness is unlike any other kind of happiness that the world offers. The joy of the things of the world is temporal and does not last. The wisdom that we find from the Lord would help us gain much understanding. Our hope is that His wisdom would guide us to make good decisions in our life journey. We have every reason to rejoice in having the Lord’s wisdom.

  2. They are better than the profits of silver and gold.
  3. The value of wisdom is far more precious than rubies.
  4. All that we would desire in life cannot be compared with the worth of wisdom.
  5. When we have such precious wisdom, our response is one of happiness.

The potential blessings of wisdom

Many blessings are associated with wisdom.

  2. Riches and honour are also gained when wisdom helps us to do well and advance at work: “In her left hand riches and honour.” (Proverbs 3:16)
  3. Pleasantness would also be experienced as we follow the ways of wisdom: “Her ways are ways of pleasantness,” (Proverbs 3:17)
  4. There would be peace on the paths of wisdom: “And all her paths are peace.” (Proverbs 3:17)

This list is not an exhaustive list by any means.

Wisdom as a tree of life

“She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her,” (Proverbs 3:18)

The challenge is to find and retain wisdom

“And happy are all who retain her.” (Proverbs 3:18)

Even though it may be difficult to find wisdom, let us not be discouraged from pursuing her. There are many reasons for us to find wisdom and retain it. Our hope is that the Lord’s wisdom would give us potential blessings to experience. Wisdom can be a tree of life to us.
