February 2015 Theme: Trusting God in Troubled Times

Text: Psalm 33

“WE HAVE TRUSTED IN HIS HOLY NAME”

(I) TRUSTING IN THE LORD’S HOLY NAME

1. Trusting in His word (Psalm 33:4)

a) It is right

b) It is powerful

i) By the word of the Lord the heavens were made (Psalm 33:6)

ii) By the word of the Lord the seas were made (Psalm 33:7)

iii) He spoke and it was done (Psalm 33:9)

iv) He commanded and it stood fast (Psalm 33:9)

c) It is eternal

i) The counsel of the Lord stands forever (Psalm 33:11)

ii) The plans of His heart to all generations (Psalm 33:11)

2. Trusting in His Person

a) He dwells in heaven (Psalm 33:14)

b) He looks from heaven (Psalm 33:13)

c) He fashions the heart of Mankind (Psalm 33:15)

d) His eye is on those who fear Him (Psalm 33:18)

e) He looks on those who hope in his mercy (Psalm 33:18)

(II) RELATING TO THE LORD MEANINGFULLY

1. Rejoicing in the Lord (Psalm 33:1)

2. Praising the Lord (Psalm 33:2)

3. Waiting on the Lord (Psalm 33:20)

4. Trusting in His holy name (Psalm 33:21)

5. Hoping in Him (Psalm 33:22)
