Galatians
Day
Day 91

"I have confidence in you, in the Lord..."

Text: Galatians 5:10

WAS IT TOO LATE?

The damage was done to the Galatian churches. The question was whether it was too late to redeem the situation?

I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind;
but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is.

Galatians 5:10

1. “I have confidence in you”

a) It was not too late to reverse the situation.
b) It was still possible to reject these false teachers.
c) It was still possible to eradicate the problem of false teaching at its roots.
d) Paul expressed confidence that the Galatians would do the right thing!

2. “In the Lord”

a) Paul’s greater confidence was in the Lord.
b) If the Galatians repented and returned to the Lord, He would help them.
c) The Lord could redeem this nasty development.

3. “But he who troubles you shall bear his judgment”

a) This was an apostolic word of warning.
b) Paul warned of Divine judgment upon those who troubled the believers.
c) They will have to bear the consequences of their sinful ways.

4. “Whoever he is”

a) The false teacher may have come from Jerusalem.
b) He may have been a notable teacher.
c) He may have enjoyed a good standing in his community.
d) He may have been someone very important.
e) Nevertheless this false teacher will be dealt with by God Himself.

DIVINE JUDGMENT

This was certainly very real in the days of the apostles.

1. Ananias and Sapphira were struck dead when they lied to the apostle Peter (Acts 5).

2. Elymas Bar-Jesus was struck with blindness when he opposed Paul (Acts 13).

God reserves Divine right to mete out judgment as He thinks it fit!
