Day 213 – Psalm 28

“Do not take me away with the wicked…” Psalm 28:3

AWARENESS OF THE ACTIVITIES OF THE WICKED

David knew well how God would judge the wicked. But surely he could not be counted among the wicked. The following text describes the activities of the wicked (Psalm 28:3-5). For easier comprehension the following features about the wicked may be noted:-

1. They were “workers of iniquity” (Psalm 28:3)

a) Their works were iniquitous.
b) They transgressed God’s laws.

2. They were cunning people (Psalm 28:4)

a) They spoke words of peace with their neighbours.
b) But they harboured “evil in their hearts”.

3. They had no regard for the Lord (Psalm 28:5)

a) They had no respect for “the works of God”.
b) They had no regard for the “operation of His hands”.

GOD’S JUDGMENT OF THE WICKED

How would God judge the wicked? David had a strong idea of how God would judge the wicked. His understanding was reflected in the following text.

“Give them according to their deeds,
And according to the wickedness of their endeavours;
Give them according to the work of their hands;
Render to them what they deserve…
He shall destroy them and not build them up.”
Psalm 28:4, 5c

1. Divine justice

a) The wicked if they were unrepentant would get “what they deserve”.
b) God would destroy them ultimately.

2. “Do not take me away with the wicked” (Psalm 28:3a)

This was an earnest plea of the heart! David was not a wicked man!
