Day 203 – Psalm 27

“In this I will be confident” Psalm 27:3d

FRIGHTENING ENEMIES

Enemies can be frightening, especially when you do not know who they are and what they are capable of doing.

David’s approach was to know who his enemies were and to courageously face up to what they intended to do!

“When the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh,
My enemies and foes, they stumbled and fell.
Though an army may encamp against me,
My heart shall not fear;
Though war may rise against me,
In this I will be confident.”
Psalm 27:2-3

KNOWING YOUR ENEMY

David certainly knew his enemies well from looking at the text above.

1. The adversaries described:-

a) They were wicked.
b) They were enemies.
c) They were foes.
d) There was an army of these adversaries.

2. Their plans evaluated:-

a) They encamped against David.
b) They waged war.

CONFIDENCE

One of the most important things to possess in tough circumstances is “confidence”. David’s confidence was in the LORD who was his light and his salvation. The proximity of God’s presence gave David the necessary strength and confidence to battle all his foes!

What could an army of enemies do to him? Yes, they may surround him and have deadly plans. But these plans would fail! God could be counted upon to thwart the plans of his wicked enemies.

The enemies would only “stumble and fall”. They would not gain victory over David as long as the Lord was his light, his salvation, his strength and his confidence!
