Day 70 – Psalm 9

“The LORD is known by the judgment He executes…” Psalm 9:16a

CONFIDENCE IN THE LORD’S RESPONSE

David was most confident of how the Lord would respond to his cry for help!

“The nations have sunk in the pit which they made;
In the net which they hid, their own foot is caught.
The LORD is known by the judgment He executes;
The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. (Meditation)
The wicked shall be turned into hell
And all the nations that forget God.”
Psalm 9:15-17

1. “The LORD is known by the judgment He executes”

a) God’s judgment would be as righteous as He is.
b) His judgment would be as it always has been! (Psalm 9:7-8)
c) God does not change but endures forever (Psalm 9:7)

2. Judgment meted out

a) Self-inflicted
i) The nations would sink in the very pit they made.
ii) They would be caught in the nets they set up.
iii) They would be ensnared by their own wicked works.
b) God-determined
i) The wicked would be dealt with on this earth.
ii) The unrepentant wicked would be turned “into hell”.

3. Those who will be judged

a) The wicked nations.
b) The wicked individual.
c) Those who have “forgotten God”:-
i) They have put God and all He stands for out of their mind
ii) They have instead chosen to walk in paths of wickedness.
iii) They have resorted to oppression of the weak.
iv) They have relentlessly pursued that which is evil.
