"To be conformed to the image of His Son..."

Text: Romans 8:29

A GLIMPSE OF HOW GOD PLANS

How does God plan things out? Have you wondered about how God works things out? We have a glimpse of the way God plans things in the following text.

“For whom He foreknew, He also predestined
to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be
the firstborn among many brethren.
Moreover whom He predestined, these he also called;
whom He called, these He also justified;
and whom He justified, these He also glorified.”
Romans 8:29-30

1. Conformed to the image of His Son

a) This is the underlying principle that we must bear in mind!

b) Christ Jesus

i) He is the image-focus.

ii) He is the epitome of all that a man should be.

iii) He is to receive fullness of glory… as One who is “firstborn”.

2. Completeness of God’s plans

a) Foreknowledge of God is employed.

b) Power of Predestination is also utilized.

c) The outward display of the above is seen in His calling given to mankind.

i) Calling to salvation

ii) Calling to ministry

d) Justified- All who are called are already “justified”.

Our justification is already confirmed, from beginning to end!

e) Glorified- Note the peculiar use of this word.

i) It is technically a future reference.

ii) Yet it is spoken of as a deed that has been done!
