"I will arise"

Day 90 – Psalm 12

“I will arise” Psalm 12:5c

A POTENT REPLY FROM THE LORD

God will always hear and answer the prayers of the godly (Psalm 4:3; 6:9)! This is very clearly evidenced in the following text!

“‘For the oppression of the poor,
For the sighing of the needy,
Now I will arise,’ says the LORD:
‘I will set him in the safety for which he years.'”
Psalm 12:5

1. God’s promise given

a) He will arise (God as the Divine Judge is in mind).
b) He will attend to the oppression of the poor.
c) He will meet the needs of the needy who sigh.
d) He will grant safety to the oppressed poor and needy.

2. Significance of this promise

a) The hypocrites who speak flattering words with a double heart will be dealt with.
b) The wicked who exalt vileness will not go unpunished.

A GRATEFUL RESPONSE TO GOD’S WORD OF PROMISE

As David pondered these words from God, his heart was moved to pen these immortal words!

“The words of the LORD are pure words,
Like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
You shall keep them, O LORD,
You shall preserve them from this generation forever.”
Psalm 12:6-7

1. Appreciation of the purity of God’s word

a) God’s word is indeed absolutely pure (Note the imagery of silver purified).
b) These words of promise bring great comfort to the heart!

2. Assurance that God would indeed keep His word of promise

David was absolutely assured in his heart that God would keep and preserve His Word! The wicked cannot prevail against the all-powerful and pure Word of God!
