Text: Exodus 35 : 34-35

A GREAT TEAM

Bezalel and Aholiab must have made a great team, working side by side. There was no jealousy on the part of Aholiab as he assisted Bezalel, who was obviously the more gifted individual! In wisdom, Aholiab would have recognized that it was the Spirit of God who determined what gifts He would bestow on an individual. There was much work to be done, and no time must be wasted on petty feelings like envy.

AN AMAZING ARRAY OF SKILLS

As Bezalel and Aholiab began their work in the building of the Tabernacle, it became most obvious to everyone who watched them, that they were especially empowered by the Spirit of God!

“He has filled them with skill to do all manner of work
of the engraver and the designer and the tapestry maker,
in blue, purple and scarlet thread, and fine linen,
and of the weaver- those who do every work and those
who design artistic works.”
EXODUS 35: 35

Moses uttered these words in obvious appreciation and admiration of what the Spirit of God was doing in the lives of Bezalel and Aholiab. Bezalel’s skills were already well described (Exodus 35:31-34). The following skills were shared by the two partners!

1. “Work of the engraver”

2. “Work of the designer”

3. “Work of the tapestry maker”

4. “Work of the weaver”

5. “Those who do every work”- A reference to artisans

6. “Those who design artistic works”- A reference to “professional designers”

These skills were not easy to master. Imagine being so skilled as “to do all manner of work”. Without the special empowering of the Spirit of God, it would be literally impossible to be a master of all these skills.

HE HAS FILLED THEM

It is staggering to think that mere mortals could be so skilled. But if we are awed by men of great skills, surely our attention must be drawn to the Person who gave such skills to these artists. All honor and praise must be given to the LORD God!
