Text: Exodus 26 : 35-37

THE HOLY PLACE

The Holy Place, which was situated just outside the Holiest Place, was also sacred ground! In this area, the following articles were to be placed.

“You shall set the table outside the veil,
and the lampstand across from the table on the side
of the tabernacle toward the south; and you shall put
the table on the north side.”
EXODUS 26:35

1. The south side

The Golden Lampstand was to be located on the south side. The Lampstand represented God’s blessing of Light to the nation. Both physical and spiritual light were not to be taken for granted. That it was placed in the Holy Place highlights its importance!

2. The north side

The Table of Showbread would be placed on the north side. The sustenance of the children of God was His prerogative! The fact that this Table was placed in the Holy Place must not be taken for granted at all!

THE DOOR OF THE TABERNACLE

God desired to dwell among His people. He deigned to make a Tabernacle among the children of Israel as an expression of His grace and favour. In order that Israel might learn how to relate to God properly, the plan of the Tabernacle was carefully explained.

Another important thing that God wanted Israel to learn was expressed in the following text.

“You shall make a screen for the door of the Tabernacle,
woven of blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen,
made by a weaver. And you shall make for the screen five pillars
of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold; their hooks shall
be gold, and you shall cast five sockets of bronze for them.”
EXODUS 26:36-37

1. A Beautiful Door

The following expressions have been used to describe beauty and majesty:-

a) With reference to linen- “Blue, purple and scarlet thread and fine woven linen”
b) With reference to metals- “Overlay with gold…bronze…”

2. The Majesty of God

The Door of the Tabernacle must be beautifully made! All who approach the House of the Lord must be struck by a sense of awe of His majesty!
