“By the word of the LORD the heavens were made…” Psalm 33:6a

REJOICING IN THE LORD AS CREATOR

There are many things that should cause our hearts to rejoice. One of the things that should bring a great sense of rejoicing would be to ponder the way the Lord made the heavens and the earth.

“By the word of the LORD the heavens were made,
And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.
He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap;
He lays up the deep in storehouses.

Let all the earth fear the LORD;
Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him,
For He spoke and it was done;
He commanded and it stood fast.”
Psalm 33:6-9

1. The simplicity of it all- from the divine perspective

a) By the word of the LORD.
b) By the breath of His mouth.

2. The complexity of it all- from the human perspective

a) The heavens were made.
b) The seas were formed.

3. The authority and power of the LORD

a) He merely spoke and what He uttered was accomplished.
b) He commanded and what He said stood fast.

4. The appropriate response

a) To fear the Lord.
i) The fear of the Lord should be fundamental.
ii) This sense of fear of the Lord should be practiced consciously.
b) To stand in awe should be a most natural response.
