"For I am the LORD Your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour; I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place." Isaiah 43:3

Text: Exodus 15 : 13-15

EXULTING IN THE LORD

What was the God of Israel like? The more Moses discovered about the Lord, the more he found himself exulting in Him!

“You in Your mercy have led forth
The people whom You have redeemed;
You have guided them in Your strength
To Your holy habitation.”
EXODUS 15:13

1. A God of great mercy

Did Israel deserve all the blessings that God had poured out into their lives? No, they did not! They grumbled and complained! They doubted and questioned! Instead of faith there was deep unbelief! How then did God relate to them? Sheer mercy on God’s part!

2. A God who redeems

How gracious God was to them! Why would He bother to relate to a nation of slaves? Yet, in His love and mercy, He redeemed them for His own!

3. A God who guides

God had great plans for His people. Unerringly, He sent plague after plague till He brought Pharaoh to his knees! The final stroke was the destruction of the army in the Red Sea! He would guide them to Canaan, the Promised Land. By faith, the true believer will appreciate that God will continue to guide till one enters into His holy habitation – heaven itself!

4. A God of great strength

The strength of God had been manifested time and again in the plagues that humbled Egypt! The destruction of the army of Egypt was the most lasting humiliation that Pharaoh felt!

IN FEAR OF THE GOD OF ISRAEL

The defeat of Egypt’s army in the Red Sea would soon become hot news for the whole region! How would they respond? But of course, they will stand in dread of the God who could humble mighty Egypt in battle! None of the nations in the Middle East could dream of ever defeating Egypt!

“The people will hear and be afraid;
Sorrow will take hold of the inhabitants of Philistia.
Then the chiefs of Edom will be dismayed;
The mighty men of Moab,
Trembling will take hold of them;
All the inhabitants of Canaan will melt away.”
EXODUS 15:14-15
