“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” Acts 2:42

GATHERING OF THE ELECT

What a glorious culmination of this otherwise grim picture of the end days!

“And then He will send His angels,
and gather together His elect from the four winds,
from the farthest part of the earth to the farthest part of heaven.”
MARK 13:27

1. The mighty angels of God

a) They attend the Lord in heaven.
b) They do His bidding without the slightest hesitation.
c) They bring much dignity to the event of gathering of all the elect.

2. Colloquial expressions

a) The four winds
b) The farthest part of the earth
c) The farthest part of heaven
The intended meaning is obvious and wondrous. Every single elect individual will be there at this gathering. No one is too insignificant to be left behind! All who are the elect faithful will have every reason to rejoice at the Return of the Lord Jesus Christ!

AN EXCITING HOPE THAT KEEPS FAITH ALIVE

Every believer has this precious hope- to be gathered as people belonging to the Lord Jesus Christ! It is a hope that transcends everything that we may have to face on earth.

1. A hope that transcends suffering

2. A hope that transcends even death

The words of the apostle Paul aptly teach us how we may face the trials of life.

“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working
for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory…
For the things which are seen are temporary,
but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
2 CORINTHIANS 4:17-18
