TEACHING CONCERNING THE END TIMES

The teachings of the Lord Jesus on the End Times were difficult to fully grasp.

1. The idea that there would be an end of time

a) Many would find it hard to accept this teaching.
b) But this concept was strong and prevalent in the Old Testament Scriptures (Cf. Isaiah, Daniel and other prophets wrote on this subject).

2. Subject matters in the End Times

a) Complex combination of scenarios
b) Context of time and events not clearly delineated
c) Highlight of intense tribulation most disturbing

STRONG WORDS OF ASSURANCE

If these words had not come from the mouth of Jesus Himself, it would have been difficult to accept the grim picture painted concerning the End Times. Jesus knew that He needed to give strong words of assurance to His Disciples in order to assure their hearts.

“Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means
pass away till all these things take place.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words
will by no means pass away.”
MARK 13:30-31

1. The words of Jesus

a) Compared to “heaven and earth”.
b) Heaven and earth would sooner pass away, than the words of Jesus.
c) Strong and assuring words indeed.

2. Enigmatic words

a) This generation
Jesus left this phrase encrypted.
b) The generation of Jesus saw the destruction of the Temple.
c) The tribulation generation will also see all that Jesus forewarned fulfilled to the letter.
