Mark
Acts 3:6 "Then Peter said, 'Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.'" Acts 3:6"
Day 294 – Mark 14
“Then Peter said, ‘Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.'” Acts 3:6
WHAT DID JESUS THINK?
The remarks of the disciples must have hurt Mary. Nevertheless, she persevered! Her focus was on giving her present to her Lord and Master. How would He respond? That was of utmost importance- and not the unkind and rude remarks of others.
A NECESSARY RESPONSE
The remarks were loud and insistent. Those unkind words must have disrupted the fellowship among them as they sat and ate. Two things were necessary and Jesus did them.
1. A strong rebuke
The Disciples were wrong in hounding Mary. There was only one way of stopping the caustic remarks that kept coming.
“But Jesus said, ‘Let her alone. Why do you trouble her?'”
MARK 14:6A
The rebuke was intended! The Disciples had to be told off. Jesus put an immediate stop to the criticisms that came her way.
2. A firm defence
Even if the Disciples did not understand what Mary did, Jesus did! He defended her action!
“She has done a good work for Me.
For you have the poor with you always,
and whenever you wish you may do them good;
but Me you do not have always.
She has done what she could. She has come beforehand
to anoint My body for burial.”
