MORE VITALLY RELATED PRINCIPLES

Jesus went on to teach vitally related principles. The following text helps us to appreciate what these principles are.

“For whoever has to him more will be given;
But whoever does not have, even what he has
Will be taken away from him.”
MARK 4:25

1. The principle of “whoever has”

a) This is a reference to the person who is a responsible hearer of God’s word
b) What does he have?
i) A good inclination towards the search for wisdom.
ii) A good attitude towards the Word of God.
iii) A good sense of responsibility to hearing and receiving God’s word.

2. “More will be given”

a) It could be in terms of material blessings (Cf. Proverbs 3:16; 8:18)
i) Length of days (Proverbs 3:16)
ii) Riches (Proverbs 3:16)
iii) Honour (Proverbs 3:16)
b) It could also be in terms of spiritual blessings (Cf. Proverbs 2:5-9)
i) Sound wisdom (Proverbs 2:7)
ii) Deep understanding (Proverbs 2:9)
iii) Deliverance from evil (Proverbs 2:12)

3. “Even what he has will be taken away”

a) Wisdom will not be available in the hour of need- Wisdom is taken away (Cf. Proverbs 1:31).
b) They will ultimately be slain by their own sinfulness- protection taken away (Cf. Proverbs 1:32)
