Day 169 – Mark 7
“For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of the Lord Jesus Christ…” 2 Peter 1:16a
IN THE REGION OF DECAPOLIS
No one who is lazy could ever succeed as a Disciple of Jesus. Jesus was constantly on the move. There was no break after His ministry at Tyre and Sidon.
“Again, after departing from the region of Tyre and Sidon,
He came through the midst of the region of Decapolis
to the Sea of Galilee.
Then they brought to Him one who was deaf and had
an impediment in his speech, and they begged Him to put
His hand on him.”
MARK 7:31-32
MANY NEEDS FOUND EVERYWHERE
Jesus returned to the shores of Galilee to an active ministry. Another heart-rending account is given in this text.
1. The needs of the sick
The needs of this deaf man with a speech impediment represented the many who were seriously ill and in need of help.
2. The desperate need of the deaf man with a speech impediment
Every person who is seriously ill has desperate needs. The sad plight of the deaf-man must have been even more painful in the early days.
3. Begging Jesus to lay hands on the deaf man with a speech impediment
A contrast may be offered between this incident and that of the Syro-Phoenician woman:-
