Mark
2 Peter 2:3b "For a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber."
Day 182 – Mark 8
“For a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.” 2 Peter 2:3b
UNIQUE EXPRESSIONS
It is fascinating to observe how Jesus varied the ways in which He healed people. Each healing had its own unique lessons to learn. Let us take a look at the variety of ways in which He healed.
1. A leper
Jesus touched him and made him well (Cf. Mark 1:40-41).
2. A paralytic
To this man, Jesus spoke of forgiveness of his sins (Cf. Mark 2:1-12).
3. A woman with a chronic bleeding problem
She was healed by touching the hem of Jesus’ garment (CF. Mark 5:25-34).
4. A Syro-Phoenician woman
Jesus healed the woman’s daughter without being there personally (Cf. Mark 7:24-30).
5. A man who was deaf and had speech impediment
Jesus put His fingers in his ears and after He spat, touched His tongue (Cf. Mark 7:33).
ONE COMMON PIECE OF INSTRUCTION
Jesus had one very important word to those He healed.
1. To the leper
“See that you say nothing to anyone…”
MARK 1:44
2. To the deaf with speech impediment
“Then He commanded them that they should
tell no one…”
MARK 7:36
SAD DISOBEDIENCE
The healed paid scant attention to Jesus’ word of command.
“However, he went out and began to proclaim it freely,
and to spread the matter, so that Jesus could no longer
openly enter the city, but was outside in deserted places;
and they came to Him from every direction.”
MARK 1:45
No one seemed to understand that Jesus’ purpose for coming to earth was not to heal, but to preach the Gospel (Cf. Mark 1:38). Their disobedience hampered rather than helped His ministry. Had anyone truly understood Jesus and His true ministry?
