Hebrews
"They crucify again for themselves the Son of God..."
Text: Hebrews 6:6
WHY WAS THERE SUCH FOCUS ON THE WORD “IMPOSSIBLE?”
The author had an excellent reason as to why he wrote as solemnly and as extensively as he did. The following text underscores his reason for such an emphasis.
“Since they crucify again for themselves the Son
of God, and put Him to an open shame.”
Hebrews 6:6c
1. Grave sins committed
The author of Hebrews felt that too many people had taken God and His blessings for granted! He felt that many people had made light of the problem of sin! He felt compelled to warn his readers about the following problems:-
a) There must be realization that taking God’s blessings for granted is an awful thing to do.
b) There must be a deep and clear understanding that to depart from God (“fall away”) was a very grave sin!
c) These problems may well result in God taking a very firm stance against those who disdain His blessings!
d) They would find it impossible:-
i) To renew themselves.
ii) To return to the Lord fully.
iii) Sin could have inflicted a greater wound on the soul than had been thought.
2. An even graver sin underscored
The author went on to underscore an even greater sin problem!
