“You number my wanderings…” Psalm 56:8

MANY DIMENSIONS

Fear has many dimensions. David had to fight his fears at different levels.

1. Fear attacks the emotions.

2. Fear also attacks the mind.

3. Fear can hurt a person spiritually too.

AN ATTEMPT TO UNDERSTAND GOD IN TIMES OF FEAR

David had faith in God. Even as he faced severe oppression his thoughts dwelt on God.

“You number my wanderings;
Put my tears into Your bottle;
Are they not in Your book?”
Psalm 56:8

David must have drawn great and confident thoughts about God. The following thoughts may be noted.

1. God had full knowledge of David

a) He was surely fully aware of the fact that David had to flee from his enemies.
b) He must know all about David’s wanderings!
c) God must have even numbered his wanderings.

2. Tears in a bottle

a) David’s heart must have ached much.
b) He must have shed many tears along the way.
c) Those tears were not in vain! God had kept all his tears in a bottle!
d) “Are they not in Your book?”

David thought of God having a book. God was keeping tabs on David even as a historian would carefully note all events, circumstances that occurred! God had not forgotten him!
