Psalm 47:6a "Sing praises to God, sing praises!"
Day 64 – Psalm 47
“Sing praises to God, sing praises!” Psalm 47:6a
A GLORIOUS ENTHRONEMENT SCENE
The sons of Korah painted a glorious picture of the enthronement of God in the following text.
“God has gone up with a shout,
The LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is the King of all the earth;
Sing praises with understanding.”
Psalm 47:5-7
1. “God has gone up”
a) We have to imagine God ascending His throne.
b) As a majestic King He goes up to rightfully sit on His royal throne.
2. How should this act of God ascending His throne be received?
a) There should be vigorous hand-clapping (Psalm 47:1a).
b) There should be shouts of praise (Psalm 47:1b, 5a).
c) There should be the loud sounding of a trumpet (Psalm 47:5b).
d) There should be the glorious singing of praises to God (Psalm 47:6).
3. Emphasis on singing praises
(Emphasis is obvious. The phrase “sing praises” was mentioned five times in quick succession).
