“Blessed is the man You choose…” Psalm 65:4a
STANDING IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD
Worship is much more than just congregating together to sing songs of praise to God. David explores the idea of worship further in the following text.
“Blessed is the man You choose, and cause to approach You,
That he may dwell in Your courts.
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house,
Of Your holy temple.”
Psalm 65:4
1. References to God’s Presence
Three references are made:-
a) The courts of God.
b) The house of God.
c) The holy temple of God.
2. Significance of these references
The following may be suggested:-
a) Grandness of God’s Presence.
b) Holiness of God’s Being.
c) These are meant to be awe-inspiring.
3. Appropriate responses
David was correct to speak of approaching God in worship as one seeking to fulfil a vow made!
a) How blessed to be even admitted into the House of God.
i) Atonement for sins has been made.
ii) Prayer of confession has been accepted.
b) How blessed to be invited to dwell in the House of God.
i) It is Divine favour indeed.
ii) It is never to be taken for granted.
c) How satisfied we should be with God’s goodness.
How wonderfully gratified we should be that we can worship such a God!
