“These all wait for You…” Psalm 104:27a

GOD’S CARE OF ALL LIVING BEINGS

The psalmist attempts to appreciate God’s work of feeding all His creatures in the following text.

“These all wait for You,
That You may give them their food in due season.
What You give them they gather in;
You open Your hand, they are filled with good.
You hide Your face, they are troubled;
You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.
You send forth Your Spirit, they are created;
And You renew the face of the earth.”
Psalm 104:27-30

1. All creatures

a) They wait for God to provide their food in due season.
b) God opens His hand to feed them and they are filled with good.
c) He hides His face and they are troubled.

2. Life and death

a) God takes away the breath and the creatures die.
b) God also creates new life.
c) The earth is thus constantly renewed.

APPRECIATING GOD’S MANY DIFFERENT ROLES

The psalmist came up with a list of essential roles that God plays. Each role is truly awesome. Without the Lord doing all of these things, the earth will suffer severely.
