“He also blesses them…” Psalm 107:38a

A MEDITATION ON THE SOVEREIGN POWER OF GOD III

God’s blessings make all the difference in the world! If God does not bless, potential yields nothing. But when He blesses, abundance follows.

“He also blesses them, and they multiply greatly;
And He does not let their cattle decrease.
When they are diminished and brought low
Through oppression, affliction and sorrow.”
Psalm 107:38-39

1. What the wicked can do

a) They can attempt to diminish the progress of the righteous.
b) They can attempt to bring them down.
c) They may try and oppress the righteous poor.
d) They can cause much affliction to the humble and just.
e) They can cause the heart of the righteous to feel sadness and great sorrow.

2. What the wicked cannot do

a) They cannot prevent God from blessing.
b) They cannot thwart God’s plans to bless.

3. When God blesses

a) And God will bless those who fear and love Him.
b) They will multiply greatly.
c) God will ensure that even the cattle would be protected.
i) Cattle were a symbol of wealth.
ii) God would protect their cattle from diminishing.

He would preserve their lives for the sake of His beloved children.
