Psalm 141:2a "Let my prayer be set before You as incense..."
Day 348 – Psalm 141
“Let my prayer be set before You as incense…” Psalm 141:2a
SUPERSCRIPTION: A Psalm of David
This superscription simply acknowledges David as the author of this psalm.
A HEARTFELT CANDID PRAYER
The prayers of the psalmist David are deeply insightful. They bare open his soul.
“LORD, I cry out to You; Make haste to me!
Give ear to my voice when I cry out to You.
Let my prayer be set before You as incense,
The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth;
Keep watch over the door of my lips.
Do not incline my heart to any evil thing,
To practise wicked works
With men who work iniquity;
And do not let me eat of their delicacies.
Let the righteous strike me; it shall be kindness.
And let him rebuke me; it shall be excellent oil;
Let my head not refuse it.
For still my prayer is against the deeds of the wicked.”
Psalm 141:1-5
1. A plea for this prayer to be heard
David does not take for granted that his prayers would be automatically heard and answered.
