POEMS – Charles Tan
UNBELIEF
The glory of Jesus was obvious to those who were made whole.
His teachings were always exciting and uplifting to the soul.
All pricked up their ears when He began to speak about the Lord,
Their hearts were warmed when He taught them about the kingdom of God.
But there were some whose hearts were hardened by sin,
Their minds were closed and their hearts were locked within.
When they heard the voice of Jesus they had nothing but doubts,
They raised spurious questions and they felt very proud.
Their little minds only focused on what they knew of Jesus’ family,
They reasoned in circles and they lost their way so completely.
They did not recognize the danger that was caused by unbelief,
Their souls remained untouched and thus found no relief.
Jesus looked at His countrymen and marveled at their hardened state,
He could have caused their hearts to be clean and given them a new slate.
He did not perform many mighty miracles as He would have loved,
The heart of unbelief is one that is not touched by Heaven above.
