Text: Mark 1:12-13

Καὶ εὐθὺς τὸ πνεῦμα αὐτὸν ἐκβάλλει εἰς τὴν ἔρημον.

και ἦν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τεσσεράκοντα ἡμέρας πειραζόμενος ὑπὸ τοῦ
Σατανᾶ, καὶ ἦν μετὰ τῶν θηρίων, καὶ οἱ ἄγγελοι δινκόνουν αὐτῷ.

Translation of Mark 1:11
And immediately the Spirit drove Him into the desert.

Literally it should read :

And immediate the Spirit drives Him into the desert.

Special note concerning the use of the Present Tense in this text.

This is called “The historic or dramatic present”

The present tense is employed to give a heightened sense of drama.
This is a literary device used commonly in the Gospel narratives.
