MEETING REBEKAH’S FAMILY
Text: Genesis 24:29-67
28 February 2012
(I) MEETING REBEKAH’S FAMILY
1. Meeting up with Rebekah’s family
2. Laban showed great hospitality to Eliezer (Genesis 24:29-31)
a) Invitation to his home
b) Provision of a feast
c) Provision for the camels and the other servants
(II) THE FAITHFULNESS OF ELIEZER
1. He would not eat till he had stated his business there
2. His description of Abraham
a) As his master (Genesis 24:34)
b) As one greatly blessed by God (Genesis 24:35)
c) As a very wealthy man (Genesis 24:35)
d) The oath that he had taken (Genesis 24:37)
3. His Mission
a) To find a wife for Abraham’s son (Genesis 24:36-37)
b) The bride is to come from his clan (Genesis 24:38)
4. Recounting the events leading to finding Rebekah at the well
a) Eliezer’s prayer to God (Genesis 24:42-45)
b) Rebekah came up and offered her assistance to Eliezer (Genesis 24:45-46)
c) Rebekah introduced herself to Eliezer
5. Recognition of God’s hand
God had indeed heard his prayer and answered it graciously (Genesis 24:48)

(III) A SUCCESSFUL MISSION
1. Consent for marriage was given (Genesis 24:50)
a) God’s hand was acknowledged
b) They would comply with the request
2. Rebekah would become Isaac’s wife (Genesis 24:51)
3. The joy of Eliezer
a) Expressed in worship (Genesis 24:52)
b) Presents were given to the bride (Genesis 24:53a)
c) Presents were given to Laban the brother (Genesis 24:53b)
d) Presents were given to Rebekah’s mother (unnamed) (Genesis 24:53c)
(IV) CELEBRATION
1. Feasted the whole night (Genesis 24:54)
2. Eliezer wanted to return home the next morning (Genesis 24:54, 56)
3. Laban and Bethuel sought to persuade him to remain for at least 10 days (Genesis 24:55)
(V) REBEKAH’S DECISION
1. Rebekah was asked if she wanted to leave immediately (Genesis 24: 57)
2. She replied in the affirmative (Genesis 24:58-59)
(VI) BLESSING OF REBEKAH
1. Family blessing (Genesis 24:60)
2. Rebekah left with some maids for Canaan (Genesis 24:61)
(VII) MARRIAGE OF ISAAC AND REBEKAH
