(I) INSTRUCTION FROM THE LORD

1. To Moses and Aaron


2. This instruction was most likely given to Moses and communicated to Aaron

a) When Pharaoh speaks to you

Show us a miracle for yourselves (Exodus 7:9)

b) Then you shall say to Aaron

Take your rod and cast it before Pharaoh and let it become a serpent (Exodus 7:9)

 

(II) OBEDIENCE OF MOSES AND AARON

1. So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh


2. As the LORD had commanded (Exodus 7:10)


3. Aaron’s rod became a serpent (Exodus 7:10)

 

(III) PHARAOH’S COUNCIL

1. Wise Men


2. Sorcerers


3. Magicians


4. They were able to turn their rods into serpents

a) A trick

b) Actual

 

(IV) AARON’S ROD

His serpent swallowed up the other snakes (Exodus 7:12)

 

(V) HARDENING OF PHARAOH’S HEART

1. His heart grew hard

Of his own volition


2. He did not heed the demand of the Lord to release the children of Israel (Exodus 7:13)

 

(VI) ACCORDING TO THE WORD OF THE LORD

As the LORD had said (Exodus 7:13)

1. This was predicted

2. It happened as the Lord had forewarned
