THE 1ST PLAGUE: TURNING WATER INTO BLOOD
1. God’s Word to Moses concerning Pharaoh
a) Pharaoh’s heart
It is hard (Exodus 7:14)
b) Manifestation
He will not let the children of Israel go (Exodus 7:14)
2. Confronting Pharaoh at the River Nile
a) To bring the rod
b) To speak to the Pharaoh
i) The LORD God of the Hebrews has sent me to you (Exodus 7:15)
ii) Let My people go
iii) That they may serve Me in the wilderness (Exodus 7:16)
iv) Indeed until now, you would not listen (Exodus 7:16)
v) By this you shall know that I am the LORD (Exodus 7:17)
vi) I will strike the waters which are in the river with the rod that is in my hand
vii) They shall be turned to blood (Exodus 7:17)
viii) And the fish that are in the river shall die, the river shall stink
ix) The Egyptians will loathe to drink the water of the river (Exodus 7:18)
3. Turning the water into blood
a) Say to Aaron (Exodus 7:19)
b) Take your rod and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt
i) Streams
ii) Rivers
iii) Ponds
iv) Over all pools of water
c) That they may become blood
d) There shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt (Exodus 7:19)
i) Buckets of wood
ii) Pitches of stone
4. Moses and Aaron
And Moses and Aaron did so, just as the LORD commanded (Exodus 7:20)
a) So he lifted up his rod and struck the waters that were in the river
b) In the sight of Pharaoh
c) In the sight of all his servants
d) And all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood (Exodus 7:20)
5. The fish that were in the river died
6. The river stank
7. The Egyptians could not drink the water of the river (Exodus 7:21)
8. The response of the magicians
They did so with their enchantments (Exodus 7:22)
9. Pharaoh’s heart
a) It grew hard
b) He did not heed Moses and Aaron (Exodus 7:22)
c) He turned and went into his house (Exodus 7:23)
d) Neither was his heart moved by this (Exodus 7:23)
10. Length of the plague: Seven days (Exodus 7:25)
