(I) THE PLAGUE OF LICE
(The Third Plague)
1. God’s word to Moses
a) To instruct Aaron to strike the dust of the land
b) Plague of lice to be upon all Egypt (Exodus 8:17)
2. Apparently Moses and Aaron were not given an audience with the Pharaoh
3. The failure of the magicians
a) They failed to produce lice
b) They concluded
“This is the finger of God” Exodus 8:19
4. Pharaoh’s response
a) His heart grew hard
b) He did not let the children of Israel go (Exodus 8:19)
(II) THE PLAGUE OF FLIES
(The Fourth Plague)
1. God’s word to the Pharaoh through Moses
a) Let My people go that they may serve Me (Exodus 8:20)
b) Or else… I will send swarms of flies on you and your servants, on your people and into your houses (Exodus 8:21)
2. New Feature
a) In the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, no swarms of flies will be there (Exodus 8:22)
b) Purpose: To differentiate between God’s people and the Egyptians (Exodus 8:23)
3. A great swarm of plagues came to Egypt- no one was spared (Exodus 8:24)
(III) PHARAOH’S RESPONSE
1. The Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron (Exodus 8:25)
2. Offer of Pharaoh
“Go, sacrifice to your God in the land” Exodus 8:25
(IV) MOSES’ RESPONSE
1. It is not right to do so
2. The sacrifices offered would be abominable to the Egyptians (Exodus 8:26)
3. The Egyptians would stone them (Exodus 8:26)
4. Three days’ journey into the wilderness (Exodus 8:26)
(V) PHARAOH’S REPLY
1. Do not go very far
2. Intercede for me (Exodus 8:28)
(VI) MOSES’ WORD TO PHARAOH
1. I will entreat the Lord (Exodus 8:29)
2. Do not let Pharaoh deal deceitfully anymore (Exodus 8:29)
(VII) MOSES PRAYER
1. Moses interceded on Pharaoh’s behalf (Exodus 8:30)
2. The LORD did according to what Moses prayed for (Exodus 8:31)
3. The swarms of flies removed (Exodus 8:31)
(VIII) PHARAOH
1. He hardened his heart once again
2.He would not let Israel go
