MISCELLANEOUS LAWS

1. Newly married man   (Deuteronomy 24:5a)

a) Exempted from war   (Deuteronomy 24:5b)
b) Now new business to be laid upon his shoulders   (Deuteronomy 24:5c)
c) He may stay home with his bride the first year of marriage   (Deuteronomy 24:5d)
d) To bring her happiness   (Deuteronomy 24:5e)

2. Forms of pledges (collateral) rejected

a) The lower or upper part of a millstone may not be pledged   (Deuteronomy 24:6a)
b) This is his livelihood   (Deuteronomy 24:6b)
c) Pledges cannot be forced out of their home   (Deuteronomy 24:10-11)
d) Cannot use force   (Deuteronomy 24)
e) To bless the benefactor   (Deuteronomy 24)

3. Kidnapping: An evil to be fought and eradicated

a) Kidnapping of people
b) Mistreats kidnapped people
c) Penalty: Death   (Deuteronomy 24:8)

4. Leprosy

a) Beware an outbreak of leprosy
b) Priests and Levites to be involved   (Deuteronomy 24:8)
c) Great care to be taken
d) Remember Miriam who was struck by leprosy
e) Put outside the camp for 7 days   (Numbers 12:17)
