(I) THE HARDENING OF THE HEART
1. God’s perspective
2. God’s prerogative
a) I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his servants (Exodus 10:1)
b) That I may show these signs of Mine before him (Exodus 10:1)
c) That you may tell in the hearing of your son and your sons’ sons the mighty things I have done in Egypt and My signs (Exodus 10:2)
d) That you may know that I am the LORD (Exodus 10:2)
(II) MOSES AND AARON BEFORE PHARAOH
1. Thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews (Exodus 10:2)
a) Identification
b) Distinction between the God of the Hebrews and the gods of the Egyptians
2. How long will you refuse to be humble before Me? (Exodus 10:2)
3. Let My people go that they may serve Me (Exodus 10:2)
4. Or else, if you refuse to let My people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your territory (Exodus 10:4-6)
(III) THE SERVANTS OF THE PHARAOH
1. How long will this man be a snare to us? (Exodus 10:7)
2. Let the men go that they may serve the LORD their God (Exodus 10:7)
3. Do you not yet know that Egypt is destroyed? (Exodus 10:7)
(IV) PHARAOH CALLS FOR A MEETING WITH MOSES AND AARON
1. Go and serve the LORD your God
2. Who are the ones that are going? (Exodus 10:8)
(V) MOSES’ REPLY
1. We will go with our young and our old
2. With our sons and our daughters
3. With our flocks and our herds
4. We must hold a feast to the LORD (Exodus 10:9)
(VI) PHARAOH OFFERS ANOTHER COMPROMISE
1. The men may go (Exodus 10:11)
2. The children should not go because there is grave danger ahead (Exodus 10:10)
3. Driven from the Pharaoh’s presence (Exodus 10:11)
(VII) THE EIGHTH PLAGUE- LOCUSTS
Exodus 10:12-15
1. Locusts came on the land of Egypt
2. The land was darkened
3. There remained nothing green on the trees or on the plants of the field throughout the land of Egypt (Exodus 10:15)
(VIII) PHARAOH’S RESPONSE
1. I have sinned against the LORD your God
2. And against you
3. Now therefore, please forgive my sin only this once,
4. And entreat the LORD your God
5. That He may take away from me this death only (Exodus 10:16-17)
(IX) GOD’S RESPONSE TO MOSES’ PRAYER
God hears and answers Moses’ prayer (Exodus 10:18-19)
(X) PHARAOH’S HEART
This remained hardened (Exodus 10:20)
