Text: Exodus 34:29-35

MOSES IN THE MOUNTAIN WITH GOD

1. He spent 40 days and 40 nights

2. He wrote down what God had spoken to him   (Exodus 34:27-28)

a) It was a time of intense learning
b) Moses had to learn much first
c) Before he could attempt to teach the children of Israel

COMING DOWN FROM THE MOUNTAIN

1. Moses did not know that his face glowed   (Exodus 34:29)

2. This glow symbolised: –

a) Time spent with God
b) The bestowment of God’s blessing

FEAR OF MOSES

1. The people feared Moses   (Exodus 34:30)

2. Aaron also stood in awe   (Exodus 34:30)

3. They did not dare to come near to Moses   (Exodus 34:30)

a) New phenomenon
b) Natural fear

MOSES CALLED THE ELDERS TOGETHER

1. The Elders

These were the leaders of Israel

2. Moses spoken to them   (Exodus 34:4)

3. He taught them about God and His teachings   (Exodus 34:32)

4. This attempt to reach/ teach the Elders first

a) This was good
b) It was necessary
c) It was wise

AFTER TEACHING THE ELDERS

1. Moses taught the children of God   (Exodus 34:32)

2. Great deal of personal involvement by Moses

VEILED AND UNVEILED

1. Veiling was deemed necessary   (Exodus 34:33)

2. But when Moses came out to speak to the people he was veiled   (Exodus 34:34-35)
