Day 38

"We have the mind of Christ."

Text: 1 Corinthians 2:16

THE MIND OF THE LORD

The mind of the Lord is vast and awesome. In the Book of Job, God reveals Himself and speaks to Job directly (Job 38-41). In these four chapters, God raises many questions to which Job had no answers! Paul attempts to help the Corinthians to remember the greatness of the mind of the Lord. He cited Isaiah in the following text.

“For ‘who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?’
But we have the mind of Christ.”
1 Corinthians 2:16

1. “For ‘who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him'”

a) The text cited is Isaiah 40:13.
b) Reading the whole passage (Isaiah 40:12-31) gives us an insight as to how awesome God is.
i) The LORD is portrayed as the Creator God.
ii) To whom may God be likened? (Isaiah 40:18, 25)
iii) No one can compare with the LORD God.
iv) No one has knowledge or wisdom to offer to God (Isaiah 40:13-14).
v) No one has the mind like the LORD has!

2. “But we have the mind of Christ”

a) This is a very bold jump!
b) What did Paul mean when he said that we have the mind of Christ?
c) What he did not mean
i) That we have the full capacity of the mind of Christ.
ii) That we are like Christ in the full sense of the word.
d) What he did mean
i) We can understand how Christ Jesus thought.
ii) We can understand His teachings.
iii) We can follow His reasoning.
iv) We can fathom His deep thoughts.
e) “The mind of Christ”
i) It is to have an enlightened mindset.
ii) It is a special work of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:17-22).
iii) Thus, we can say that “we have the mind of Christ”.
