"The time is short..."

Text: 1 Corinthians 7:29

A PERSPECTIVE OF TIME AND LIFE

Paul shared a very personal perspective of time and life. This perspective of life may explain what drives him.

“But this I say, brethren, the time is short,
so that from now on even those who have wives
should be as though they had none,
those who weep as though they did not weep,
those who rejoice as though they did not rejoice,
those who buy as though they did not possess,
and those who use this world as not misusing it.
For the form of this world is passing away.”
1 Corinthians 7:29-31

ii) But these moments must not be prolonged.
iii) Time must be seized and used wisely to serve the Lord.
c) Those who buy.
i) This is a reference to those who did business.
ii) It is valid to have a good livelihood.
iii) But time must not be taken up only for business.
iv) Time must be found to serve the Lord.
d) Those who use this world.
i) It is not wrong to enjoy the world.
ii) But misuse must be precluded!
iii) A solemn reminder was given, “The form of this world is passing away.”
