"And it has not yet been revealed what we shall be..."

Text: 1 John 3:2

GOD’S REDEMPTIVE PLAN

God’s plan for the redemption of mankind is deep and profound. The Apostle John hints at the fact that many have not fully comprehended the scale of the Divine redemptive plan.

“And it has not yet been revealed what we shall be,
but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him,
for we shall see Him as He is.”
1 John 3:2

1. “And it has not yet been revealed what we shall be”

a) What we are

i) This is the easier part to comprehend.

ii) We are children of God.

iii) We are beloved of God.

iv) We have the Spirit of God as our seal and guarantee that we belong to the Lord.

b) What we shall be

i) This is not fully revealed.

ii) This is not easily comprehended too.

iii) We are sometimes befuddled because we struggle with sin and weakness so much.

2. “But we know that when He is revealed”

a) This much we must know.

b) One day the Lord Jesus will return.

c) This is spoken of as “When He is revealed”.

3. “We shall be like Him”

a) This is a glorious thought indeed.

b) In what way would we be like the Lord Jesus?

i) We would have a new resurrection body.

ii) It would not be weak and sinful.

iii) What a precious promise this is- “We shall be like Him.”

4. “We shall see Him as He is”

a) We will see Him in all His glory.

b) We shall see Him as the angels in heaven behold Him.
