"And the clouds do not return after the rain"

Text: Ecclesiastes 12:2

ENJOYING SUNLIT DAYS

We often take “good days” for granted. There are also stormy days in contrast. Wisdom accepts that “bad days” can and will come. And they can cause us to feel depressed.

“While the sun and the light,
The moon and the stars,
Are not darkened,
And the clouds do not return after the rain.”
Ecclesiastes 12:2

1. “While the sun and the light”

a) This is a description of days filled with glorious sunlight.

b) Each sunlit day should be enjoyed immensely.

2. “The moon and the stars”

a) What is in mind is a beautiful night that is clear.

b) The moon and the stars can be seen and enjoyed.

3. “Are not darkened”

a) There may be days when the dark clouds hide the sun, moon and the stars.

b) Those days would be gloomy and dreary ones.

c) The sun and its light are not seen nor felt.

d) The moon and the stars do not brighten the dark night.

4. “And clouds do not return after the rain”

a) There may be days when a storm persists.

b) The rain clouds keep on rolling in.

c) The weather is inclement, and one wonders when the sun would shine again.

A DESCRIPTION OF DREARY DAYS AND NIGHT

1. This may be a description of days and nights affected by storms.

2. It is also a veiled description of the dismal outlook of some who have nothing to look forward to!

a) The sun has gone down for them.

b) The night does not bring rest.

c) There is only anticipation of more rainy weather.

d) One feels cooped up with nowhere to go and nothing much to do.
