"Wisdom is good with an inheritance"

Text: Ecclesiastes 7:11

AN INHERITANCE

An inheritance is to be received with great gratitude. However, wisdom is needed if the inheritance is to benefit the heir!

“Wisdom is good with an inheritance,
And profitable to those who see the sun.”
Ecclesiastes 7:11

1. “Wisdom is good with an inheritance”

a) An inheritance is to be greatly appreciated.

i) It represents the heart of the benefactor.

ii) It also represents the hard work put in.

iii) Then there is his thoughtfulness and kindness too.

iv) It is given by the benefactor.

b) “Wisdom”

i) An inheritance does not come with wisdom.

ii) It must be prayed for.

iii) It must be sought diligently (Cf. Book of Proverbs).

iv) It must also be applied carefully.

c) “Wisdom is good”

i) It plays a significant role.

ii) It enables the beneficiary to use his inheritance wisely.

2. “And profitable to those who see the sun”

a) When wisdom is employed with the inheritance, it can be profitable indeed.

b) Without wisdom, the inheritance can be easily lost.

c) History is full of stories of people who had inherited much but lost it all before too long.

3. “To those who see the sun”

a) This is an effective expression.

i) To describe those who are alive.

ii) To describe those who are well and healthy enough to be in the sun.

b) It is also a quiet reminder.

i) That this life on earth will not last forever.

ii) Wisdom is vital for it will enhance the way we live and use our inheritance.
