Ephesians
Day
Day 60

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ… And He put all things under His feet and gave Him to be Head over all things to the Church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all."

Text: Ephesians 1:3, 23

GLORYING IN THE CONCEPT OF THE FULLNESS OF CHRIST

As we come to the conclusion of our study of Ephesians 1, surely we cannot but desire to take time to “bless the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ”. Let us ponder afresh the concept of fullness as applied to “the Church”.

1. The Fullness of Bestowal of Blessing

“Who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places… ”
EPHESIANS 1:3

2. The Fullness of God’s Love

“Just as He chose us in Him, before the foundation of the world., that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.”
EPHESIANS 1:4

3. Fullness of God’s Grace

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”
EPHESIANS 1:7

4. Fullness of Guarantee

“You were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession.”
EPHESIANS 1:13-14

5. Fullness of Power

“And what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.”
EPHESIANS 1:19

6. Fullness of the glory of Christ

“When He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.”
EPHESIANS 1:20-21

7. Fullness of the Headship of Christ in the Church

“And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things, to the Church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.”
EPHESIANS 1:22-23

A HUMBLE PLEA TO COMPREHEND THE CONCEPT OF “FULLNESS”

This lofty concept of “fullness” (“pleroma”) cannot be fully understood by the human mind alone. We will surely need the special work of the Spirit of God to enlighten our hearts and minds. Let us pray that “the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory may give to (us) the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him” (Ephesians 1:17). May we learn to glory in the fullness of Christ and how that relates to “the Church”.
