Ephesians
Day
Day 106

"For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father."

Text: Ephesians 2:18

A GREAT SENSE OF BEING INDEBTED TO CHRIST

Once again we come across the phrase “through Him”. How should we feel as we read about the ministry of Christ Jesus? Surely we must feel the deepest sense of indebtedness, gratitude and love towards our wonderful quintessential Saviour!

THE MEDIATORIAL MINISTRY OF CHRIST

The intermediary role of Christ is something that we must learn to deeply appreciate. His role as Mediator is wonderfully underscored in the following text.

“For there is one God and one Mediator
between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all…”
1 TIMOTHY 2:5-6A

ACCESS TO GOD

The word “access” (“prosagogen”) brings a wonderful lift to the heart. A number of things are suggested by Paul’s use of this word.

1. The idea of moving nearer to God is in mind.

2. The idea of the right to be closer to God is also suggested.

3. Finally the word culminates in the idea of “rightful freedom” to be in the very presence of God.

What a wonderful blessing we have made possible through the mediatorial ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ.

APPRECIATING ACCESS TO GOD

In his epistle to the Romans, Paul also highlights this concept of having access to God.

“Therefore, having been justified by faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”
ROMANS 5:1-2

Four wonderful thoughts are suggested in this heart-warming text. These thoughts ought to be given great consideration.

1. The Mediatorial Ministry of Christ is appreciated.

2. The grace of the Lord makes access to God possible.

3. There should be a great sense of rejoicing in the heart as thought is given to the concept of “Access”.

4. Access to God should also create a sense of “hope of the glory of God”.
