Ephesians
Day
Day 320

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might."

Text: Ephesians 6:10

THE WEAK MAY BE MADE STRONG

It is important and uplifting to know that we can be made strong “(“krataioo” Cf. Ephesians 3:16). We may indeed “be strong in the Lord” (“endunamoo” Cf. Ephesians 6:10). Different words for “strength” were employed, but the same concept is emphasized. The weak individual can be made strong in the Lord! No one needs to fear weakness, if he would but learn to turn to the Lord for that special strength needed for spiritual battle.

IN THE POWER OF HIS MIGHT

Wherein may true spiritual strength be found? Any study of “strength” must be taken into consideration the concept found in this phrase, “the power of His might”.

1. Power

In our study of the Scriptures, we cannot but notice that the words “strength” and “power” are closely related. Let us take time to consider the following texts.

That you may know…
What is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us
who believe, according to the working of his mighty power.
EPHESIANS 1:18, 19

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly
above all that we ask or think, according to the power
that works in us…
EPHESIANS 3:20

a) Power (“dunameos” Cf. Ephesians 1:19a)

The focus here is indeed the dynamic “power” of God working in us.

b) Power of His might (“tous kratous tes ischuos” Cf. Ephesians 1:19b)

The emphasis here is on the majestic “strength” of God. A very similar phrase is found in Ephesians 6:10 (“to kratei tes ischuos”).

2. Practical Ramifications

We have some wonderful practical ramifications that emerge from a meditation of the above texts:

a) The strength that we need for spiritual battle comes from the majestic and dynamic power of God.
b) This power of God is able to make a person truly strong.
c) The source of this profound power works in all who truly believe in the Lord!
