Exodus

Exodus
Day
Day 328

"And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first forty days and forty nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water, because of all your sin which you committed in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke Him to anger." Deuteronomy 9:18

Text: Exodus 34 : 1-4

A GREAT BREAK-THROUGH

Moses must have been greatly relieved to hear the next set of instructions from the Lord! What a great break-through this represented!

“And the LORD said to Moses,
‘Cut two tablets of stone like the first ones, and I will write
on these tablets the words that were on the first tablets which
you broke. So be ready in the morning, and come up in
the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself to Me there
on the top of the mountain. And no man shall come up with you,
and let no man be seen throughout all the mountain;
let neither flocks nor herds feed before that mountain.”
EXODUS 34:1-3

1. A Second Chance

When God asked Moses to make another set of stones like the previous one that was broken, he knew that his prayers had not been in vain! God was going to give Israel a second chance! He would give them His laws! He would re-establish relationship with the nation once again!

2. Very strict Orders

Once again very strict orders were issued! This set of commands was similar to that given to Israel when God said that He would come and visit them (Cf. Exodus 19)! Only Moses was allowed to be on the mountain!

ONLY TOO GLAD TO OBEY

Moses did not hesitate for one moment! But of course he would comply with all that God commanded.

“So he cut two tablets of stone like the first ones.
Then Moses rose early in the morning and went up Mount Sinai,
as the LORD has commanded him; and he took in his hand
the two tablets of stone.”
EXODUS 34:4

1. Full obedience

The two tablets of stone were cut and readied for God to write upon! Moses rose up early in the morning to go to the trysting place on top of Mount Sinai where God said He would meet with him!

2. “As the LORD had commanded him”

Moses had always sought to obey the Lord fully, to the minutest detail! What an example he set for Israel! If only the children of Israel would similarly obey the Lord!
