"He will guide you into all truth..."

Text: John 16:13

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The Lord Jesus continued to give vital knowledge about the Person and the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Deep and clear understanding about the Holy Spirit would help the Disciples respond and relate better to Him.

“I still have many things to say to you,
but you cannot bear them now.
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come,
He will guide you into all truth;
for He will not speak on His own authority,
but whatever He hears He will speak;
and He will tell you things to come.”
John 16:12-13

1. “I still have many things to say to you”

a) The Lord Jesus taught His disciples much.

The following are some of the doctrines that Jesus taught His disciples: –

i) About God’s kingdom

ii) About following Him

iii) About faith

iv) About ministry

v) About prayer

b) “Many things to say”

i) The development of the Church.

ii) Growing the work of the Lord.

iii) Missions ministry.

2. “But you cannot bear them now”

a) How well the Lord Jesus understood His disciples.

b) How deeply He loved them to show such graciousness.

c) He knew just how much they could bear; their hearts were filled with sorrow that the Lord Jesus would soon leave them.

3. The Ministry of the Holy Spirit

a) He will guide them into all truth.

b) He will not speak of His own authority.

c) He will, like Jesus, hear what the Father has to say and then speak accordingly.

d) He will reveal things to come; but none would be of His own authority.
