"The vision is yet for an appointed time"

Text: Habakkuk 2:3

MANY ASPECTS

The visions of God were His messages. There are many aspects in any vision given by the Lord. The challenge for every servant of God is to fathom the depth of each message!

“For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come,
It will not tarry.”
Habakkuk 2:3

1. The aspect of “Time”

a) This is an aspect man struggles with all the time.
b) Two aspects of time may be considered:
i) Our understanding of time.
ii) God’s understanding of time.
c) Man always seems to have difficulty in appreciating God’s perspective of time.
d) Common ways of understanding time from the human perspective often trigger doubts and unbelief.

2. “For the vision is yet for an appointed time”

a) God’s vision regarding the Chaldeans is in mind here (Habakkuk 1:5-11).
b) Habakkuk was greatly disturbed in heart and mind because he did not factor in this aspect of “an appointed time”.
c) The Chaldeans will come when it was the appointed time (and not necessarily immediately).

3. “But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie”

a) The vision will be fulfilled “in the end”.
b) It will speak… conveying a message from the Lord.
c) It will not lie… it will not be proven false because it is a message from the Lord God Himself.

4. “Though it tarries, wait for it”

a) Man always seems to be in a hurry.
b) But God cannot be hurried.
c) Things will go as God has planned.
d) The challenge is to “wait for it” – to be unfolded and then fulfilled.

5. “Because it will surely come, it will not tarry”

There seems to be a contradiction. But no, there is no contradiction at all. Man is urged to wait if the will of God seems to tarry! The will of God will be fulfilled. God’s word will not tarry but it will fulfil what it was sent to do!
