For a testimony...

Text: Hebrews 3:5

SIGNIFICANCE OF BEING A SERVANT OF GOD

There is deep significance in being called “a servant of God”. The following are features that are worth thinking over deeply. Just two are being highlighted:-

1. A special relationship with God has been entered into.

a) The individual now serves God.
b) He represents God:-
i) As His spokesman.
ii) As one who does the bidding of God.

2. A special ministry is often assigned.

a) The servant of God may be assigned to speak for the Lord.

“Now the LORD spoke to Moses saying:
‘Speak to the children of Israel…”
Exodus 14:1

b) He may also be assigned to write

“And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD.”
Exodus 24:4

ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE ADDED

We have a new perspective added. Let us ponder this text.

“And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant,
for a testimony which would be spoken afterward.”
Hebrews 3:5

1. For a testimony

a) Moses would exemplify what it means to be a servant of God.
b) He would set the benchmark of serving God- “faithfulness”.

2. Which would be spoken afterward

a) The author of Hebrews was doing just that
(He was speaking of Moses and his testimony as a faithful servant of God)
b) Moses would always be spoken of (by servants of God)
Moses would always be the “hallmark” of what it means to be faithful in service.
